About Me
My name is Pia Oyarzún and I am Chilean by nationality. After getting my degree in Journalism,I started gaining interest in Scuba diving and in 2011 I got certified and became a Scuba Instructor.I quit my office job and went to work in Brazil for two years as a Scuba instructor. There,I learned about Underwater photography and became a professional. Shortly after that,I worked in Turks and Caicos and Thailand as both an instructor and an Underwater photographer. In 2014, I landed in The Bahamas and I started working as an Underwater photographer for a local dive shop for five years.
I started my own business “made in water” in 2018. We are a boutique personalised dive shop that works with small private groups in order to ensure a one on one experience. I also work as a private instructor for yachts and boats guiding prospective clients to the best diving spots in The Bahamas.
Recently, I was hired for a nine week contract which consisted of a five weeks charter onboard the Gladiator, three weeks in G3 and seven days in Zeal. On this trip, we visited and dived in the Berry Islands, Nassau, the Exumas, Eleuthera and Conception Islands.
As an Underwater photographer, I have been published in different magazines and newspapers. I have also worked as a videographer for Discovery Channel, National Geographic, GMA, amongst others.
I have certified about 200 people and have above 10,000 dives in my 10 year career. The ocean is my passion, teaching and showing people how important the ocean is for our life is what I love the most about what i do for a living.
I am so blessed to wake up every day and excited to go to work because everyday is a new adventure in the ocean.
